Keith joined Iridium Technology at the start of 2018 as a Senior BI Consultant/Developer, bringing with him thirty years of experience in consulting and law firm management roles related to finance and technology. Before his position with Iridium, Keith was Director of Financial Systems at Womble Bond Dickinson, a transatlantic law firm with offices across the US and the UK, where he was responsible for overseeing the development and management of a broad set of financial and BI solutions.
In addition to providing consulting services to clients, Keith has been actively managing the development and growth of Iridium’s Matter Budgeting product. In his new role as Product Manager, he will be applying these same skills to Iridium Technology’s full line of products, ensuring they meet the needs of Iridium's clients for many years to come.

Iridium Technology LLC, a global provider of BI Solutions for law firms, is proud to announce another year of record growth in 2017. Iridium signed up 21 new law firm clients globally in 2017, bringing their total client count to 66 at EOY, a 46% increase in customer count. Three more firms have already signed up in 2018. New Iridium clients in 2017 included five more AMLAW 100 firms, bringing the total to 15. All 21 new firms were signed up under Iridium’s subscription-based fee model. “We are incredibly pleased with these results” states Tom Jones, CEO of Iridium Technology, “Our continued focus on ‘Business Intelligence for Law Firms – Period’ has allowed us to develop the products and services that leading law firms are demanding.” New Iridium clients signed up in 2017 include Capsticks, LeClairRyan, McCarthy Tétrault, and Miller Thomson LLP. Iridium continues to provide fully customized BI solutions for each client, and most customizations are covered by the monthly subscription fee. 87% of Iridium clients did not pay a single billable dollar for customizations in 2017, and only 3% of Iridium’s revenue comes from billable fees. “We view our clients as our partners,” states Jones, “so we do not continually hand them SOW’s for customizations.”
To keep up with demand for the Iridium BI product line, Iridium added ten new team members in 2017, bringing the total to 30 team members. The worldwide consulting organization now boasts 18 full-time BI consultants that are working 100% on client implementations. Iridium now has implementation personnel in all regions where they do business: US, Canada, EMEA, and APAC. The dedicated product development team has also grown to five full-time members. I have a passion for language and mathematics-and initially opted for a French major for my university degree. Computer Science swept me off my feet as I was immediately drawn to the language-oriented nature which combines math and creativity.
I’m planning to graduate in Computer Science and Engineering with a minor in Mathematics in May of 2019 from the University of Nevada in Reno.
So when I learned of a new opportunity to work as a BI Intern at Iridium Technology, I jumped at the chance. I was drawn to the culture of working from home, where self-motivation is challenged. My co-workers are across the world, which enhances my understanding of cultures while working alongside some of the most talented people I’ve had the pleasure to meet! The best part is that knowledge is valued throughout the company, so my studies are always prioritized.
Seeing what the impressive developers do for Iridium is inspiring and motivating as I close out my degree. I love seeing the hard-working culture of Iridium translate into a real working product that clients rave about and use to improve their businesses. As an intern, I get to see the “inside scoop” of the business operations within Iridium and witness the company grow every week into something bigger.

Yuwadee (“Yu”) has finished up her Junior year, and has just started classes for her Senior year. She is on track to graduate with a degree in Business/Accounting next Spring. She is taking a mix of accounting, business management, and computer courses. Most importantly, she is really excelling as a student and has a cumulative GPA of 3.44! Tom and Yu exchange emails on a weekly basis, with Tom’s wife Lek serving as the translator (Let’s just say that Yu’s English language skills have not improved as quickly as she has made progress in accounting and computers). Lek and Yu regularly chat on Facebook, so we are closely connected with her progress.
The first Legal IT Social event was hosted in Toronto in July 2017. We started out small with Iridium hosting an intimate gathering for their clients in Toronto. The event was a big success: we had 20+ attendees from six firms, and several Legal IT consultants from Toronto also attended. The one word summary for the event would be FUN. We had a great venue at The 3 Brewers restaurant. The Toronto Legal IT community is very close knit, and this was great opportunity to bring together peers that have known each other for years. The success of this event resulted in two promises: we will host another event every time Tom is in Toronto, and we will bring these type of events to other cities.
We are pleased to announce that Joe Zoghbi has joined the company as Chief Operating Officer. Joe will be responsible for global company operations. He will also be facilitating Iridium’s long-term business partnerships with clients and vendors and helping to extend the firm’s market presence in all regions.
Joe comes to Iridium with decades of experience working in the legal and professional services industry. Joe has an MBA, as well as extensive experience in helping law firms leverage the right technology to streamline efforts while maximizing returns. For the past seven years, Joe was the Managing Director of Minisoft, Inc., a global leader in collections software for law firms. Joe successfully managed Minisoft through major growth and the rollout of multiple new product lines, while continuing to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
Our new Matter budgeting and planning module is off to a strong start, with seven wins in the first month of product availability!
The first half of 2017 was great for Iridium, with the signing of 16 new clients for our BI solution. The clients were in all regions, and ranged in size from 80 to 2000+ timekeepers. Wins were posted for firms running Aderant, Elite Enterprise, and Elite 3E.

Matter Module v1.0 has Shipped: The first version of the Matter module is now available, and focuses on the first major deliverable - creation of matter budgets. We are very proud of what our development team has accomplished with our v2017.1 release, but we are not giving them any rest; they have already started on the next release. v2017.2 will focus on adding enhancements from the first clients, and building a first cut of the LPM (Matter Tracker) capabilities.

Iridium is proud to announce that we secured the contracts after a grueling 9-way shootout to become the BI vendor for a large Chicago firm. Nine vendors participated, but in the end Iridium was left standing due to our profitability capabilities and ability to customize to meet the requirements of the most demanding law firms.
Iridium Technology has added four new members to their development/consulting team, including well known Legal IT figure David Maloyed. David has been working in Legal IT for 20 years in a variety of technical, consulting, and implementation roles.
"We are very excited to have David join our team," states Tom Jones, President of Iridium Technology. "His strong technical and project management skills will provide a great boost in helping us to manage our rapidly expanding client base."
"We have also added three additional technical resources," continues Jones. "Two are based in the US, and one is based in EMEA." All three new team members will be involved in product development, implementations, and support. Having an EMEA-based resource now gives us around the clock (24-hour) support for our clients in all regions."
"I have continued to work as an advisor for our local "Gigabyte" girls, and is great to see them coding away. We have had one challenge in the classes, and that is the wireless connection at the Girl Scout club is horrible," Tom says. "This has been frustrating for everyone, so I volunteered to see if we could solve the problem by buying a router (etc.). The Girl Scouts contacted their local IT guys, who responded that the whole wireless infrastructure needed to be upgraded for the building and the cost would be $6,600."
Tom continues, "I called them up and (tactfully) told them that was ridiculous, and that I could probably run the meetings using my cell phone as a hot spot. That put them in a "problem solving mode", and we then had a brainstorming session about how to solve the problem for the girls at a reasonable price point. After a week of discussions and diagnostics, it was discovered that some of the existing equipment was faulty and could be replaced by Dell under warranty. Total cost: $600 service charge. This lesson (ask questions and stand up for yourself!) will certainly be shared with the girls at our next meeting!"

It is being run through the local Girl Scout troop, and is the first Gigabyte Girls club in the US. The club is in its infancy, but we have already established a group of about 10 girls that are regular attendees.

When Yu was selected as the first Iridium Scholar, we promised to pay for her entire university education as long as she kept her GPA over 3.4. She is keeping her side of the agreement, and we are keeping ours! We send her monthly deposits to cover academic fees, apartment, utilities, books, special expenses, and even spending money. We keep her laptop running, cover her bus fares to go back and visit her family, purchase school uniforms, etc. We also give her a bonus for every "A", and she can use that money any way that she chooses.
In Yu's words (translated): "I am so lucky to have received this scholarship, and I am trying my hardest to get good grades and be a good student. I am enjoying the university, but I must say that this is the hardest I have ever worked in my life! I will finish my sophomore year with good grades, and I am looking forward to returning to my home town to see my family in the summer. Thank you to Tom and Lek and the team at Iridium for making my education possible."
Yu is doing a great job at the university, and we are pleased to see her excellent grades and work ethic. Yuwadee will be the first person in her family to earn a university degree. Iridium Technology has concluded their annual customer satisfaction survey, and the results were stellar! The survey was conducted in January 2016, and gathered feedback on Iridium's 2015 performance from their growing client base. The survey assessed how satisfied clients were in 24 different areas. A 1-to-5 scale was used where a 4.0 indicates "Very Satisfied" and a 5.0 indicates "Highly Satisfied".
The highest areas of achievement are listed below with average scores in parentheses:
