IRIDIUM GIVES BACK
WE BELIEVE THAT CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY EXTENDS OUTSIDE OF THE BOARDROOM AND INTO THE COMMUNITY.
At Iridium Technology, we strongly believe in giving back to the global community and the communities where we do business. We feel that one of the most important business investments is actively supporting and encouraging all of our team members to “give back” wherever and whenever they can. Giving back has many rewards, including the personal satisfaction of knowing that you are making the world a better place. It is also one of the best ways to be a role model for your children, fostering a spirit of generosity and community service.
Iridium is proud to have launched three major initiatives for “Giving Back”. These are charitable initiatives where Iridium is the driving force – we start from scratch and then try to extend our efforts and impact each year. These major initiatives receive the most of our focus, time, energy, and funding. See the links below to learn more about Operation Sam’s Club (2009-2013), the Iridium Scholar program (2014-present), and Wolverines Academy (new in 2018).
GLOBAL CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTIONS
WE ARE COMMITTED TO SUPPORTING OUR CLIENTS’ CHARITABLE EFFORTS.
Iridium has the policy that we will sponsor any of our client contacts in their charitable endeavors. Our typical donation is $100 USD for any request. Over the years we are proud to have supported these charitable organizations (plus many others!). The charities listed below include those where Iridium has either donated directly, or donated to support the efforts of one of our client contacts.
This is a new initiative launched in 2018 that strives to support impoverished children in rural Thailand by providing nutritious meals, English-language instruction, and extracurricular activities to help break the cycle of poverty. The Wolverines Academy currently serves nearly 70 children at two rural schools in Northern Thailand, and our goal is to deliver this program to other schools throughout the region.
To follow this initiative as it unfolds, please visit our Wolverines Academy web page.
The Iridium Scholar program was kicked off in 2013 to support young men and women who aspire to study computer science, accounting, or law, but their families do not have the financial means to pay for their university education. Iridium Scholars receive a full scholarship: tuition, books, apartment, food, living expenses, etc. – and will cover the full four years of their education.
