Extreme Programming is a well-known development methodology that is used by many leading technology firms. It is based on the premise that projects should be planned so that applications can be put into production as quickly as possible; specifically as soon as the application can provide business value. The application is then iteratively improved, based on input from the end users. (The antithesis of extreme programming is “the big project”, where a team of programmers work for 18 months with no input from the end users). Extreme Consulting is Iridium’s variation on this theme: projects are defined in small blocks, applications are put into production quickly, and enhancements are implemented rapidly based on direct feedback from the end users.
